About Us
About Us

The Climate Transformation Hub, E3G’s centre for the political economy of climate change, provides robust analysis, insight and tools to empower the climate community to navigate difficult political economy terrain and connect analysis to action.

Our ambition is to create transformational change for a climate-safe world. We work with partners to build capability and coalitions, strategies and influence that deliver smart, sustained solutions. The Climate Transformation Hub is hosted by E3G.

Why We Exist

Climate action is shifting from targets and commitments to delivery and inclusive whole economy climate transitions. Delivering effective and sustained climate action is primarily a political challenge, but little systematic political analysis exists to support climate strategies and interventions. Through the Climate Transformation Hub, E3G aims to create a step change in the political capabilities of the climate community. The hub is underpinned by E3G’s unique political economy analytical tool, the Political Economy Mapping Methodology (PEMM). The PEMM has been applied in almost 30 countries and across multiple sectors. We are a focal point for climate-focused political economy analysis, a global community of practice and insight, and an advisory support service.

What We Do

We galvanise like-minded partners to build strategies for a climate-safe world. The PEMM process opens up new conversations and opportunities for influence and transformation.

Building Spheres of Influence + Impact

PEMM analysis allows our community to identify barriers, levers, opportunities and blockers to climate action in country, and map key actors linked to these. Users can then work to build the political conditions for ambitious climate action, develop effective policy, and identify potential champions and allies in the climate transition.

Activating New Coalitions for Change

PEMM analysis can help to identify where there is the need and opportunity for greater collective action and alignment between key stakeholders. This might include the formation of new coalitions of civil society, businesses and other actors to build the political conditions for sustained climate action.

Identifying, Acting On + Disseminating Lessons Learned

As a flagship initiative of E3G built on its innovative PEMM tool, this is an opportunity to develop a robust monitoring strategy to gather evidence and data from the analytical insights, networks and processes that underpin the Climate Transformation Hub. This is complemented by a dedicated community of practice to share knowledge, lessons learned, and provide strategic support to stakeholders across the climate community with the purpose of creating maximum strategic impact.
